Right so, what feels like FOREVER I have been wishing for long hair, I'm one of those people where it seems like my hair never grows. So I've decided to take a stand to get my desired hair length more than ever and I'm writing about what I am doing to do exactly that!
This time last year my hair had gotten the longest it had been in years... but then *cue dramatic music* I decided to go blonde and I have stayed blonde ever since! I was pre-warned having heard of many bleaching horror stories before making my decision however, I'd wanted to be blonde for years and at that point of my life I really wanted change so my first steps were my hair colour so I went ahead with it anyway - and having such dark hair naturally plus having been various other colours, my hair took a lot of damage in the process and has been trimmed more times than I would have liked!
Now I've got my hair back to a good quality again it's all sorts of lengths due to the bleach (wah!), I regret having been so harsh to my hair, but I'm not going to have ruined my hair to then not even stay that colour!! So I've created a regime I wish to stick to, even once I've got my desired length..
My hair currently, you can see the different lengths going on. |

1. Avoiding heat styling
I personally hate my natural hair but I'm willing to cut down to try and help my hair grow longer. I have sworn off my hair straighteners (excluding nights out obvs), and I've begun to blow dry my hair on the cooler setting as my naturally dried hair is a challenge especially without straighteners!!!

2. Staying away from bleach
Like I mentioned before I'm un-naturally blonde and bleaching your hair is a deadly process but I do not want to go back to my dark locks so when my roots come through to a point I can't stand them I'm going to get a blonde dye (not bleach) to blend my roots into a lighter brown shade to get the ombré look naturally.
3. Not washing my hair everyday
For the days I don't wash my hair and it gets noticeably oily or dirty I will be using a dry shampoo to rid of any visible oil in my hair, as hairs natural oils are one of the best to help promote healthy hair and hopefully improve my hairs growth and reduce breakages.
4. Brushing hair only when dry
When you hair is wet it gets elastic-y and brushing it whilst wet can rip out your hair or stretch the hair making it weaker and more prone to breakage, the more it pulls the thinner and weaker your hair gets. I'm going to be brushing my hair before a shower, not afterwards!

5. Coconut, coconut, coconut!
I've bought many coconut products* due to loads of the internet (Pinterest) raving about coconut on your hair for hair growth/health, and I must say the hype is true! I love the smell of it too so it is a double win.
* Manily Garnier: Ultimate Blends
For the mean time, hair extensions are definitely my best friend!
